Bang For Your Buck (WIP)
A downloadable masterpiece
In the world of Nazdaq, the people of the land offer prayers to the Wallst goddesses, who in turn offer a portion of their power to the devout believers.
However, these goddesses are fickle, and their strength is entirely dependent on their follower's devotion...
StockF#$%ers is a gacha game that takes things to the next level. Everything you think you know about gacha games - take that, and throw it right out the window. Then, go outside and pick it back up again - because we're going to need it later. Actually, you mind letting us see it real quick? Coming up with new ideas is real hard, man.
But anyway, you know the stock market? Like, the thing from Wolf of Wall Street? It's pretty crazy if you think about it. Numbers shooting up and down, money flying everywhere, fortunes won and lost in the blink of an eye... sounds like gambler's paradise. And hey, speaking of gambling, this sounds like a gacha game!* What if we took the volatility of the stock market and spun the game of numbers into a whole new game - a game of waifus. And thus, StockF#$%ers was born.
*Author's note: gacha games are legally not gambling and I was not implying they were. Please do not sue me or whatever.
Mechanics:
- As obnoxious of a gacha system that we could make, while still giving the player usable rewards.
- Cookie-cutter RPG battle system? You bet! We've outdone ourselves here by making the MP bar party wide instead of individualized, cause sharing is caring and everyone knows businesses love to play nice.
- Oh, and we have a system of tags where each character’s attributes create buffs or debuffs depending on your team composition.
- Menus? We've got tons! Come get lost in all the pop-ups and windows as you struggle to get back to where you started. Home buttons? Never heard of them.
- Speaking of pop-ups, you know what everyone loves? Ads. Just for you, dear reader, I'll throw in an extra-special ad. What's your search history like these days?
- Tons of corporation-sona waifus. Is that the right word for it? I have no idea.
- Hate powercreep? Well not to worry - we've expedited the process. You'll pull a character that's really powerful... and 20 minutes later all their stats will be terrible because their stock crashed. Such is life. But hey, at least they'll bounce back! Gotta love companies that are too big to fail.
- Uhhhhh what else do we have again? Login Bonuses? Sure, that kinda stuff gets people coming back.
- We've taken notice of all the in-app purchases that exist in other games, and we're proud to say that we're implementing them as well! What, you thought you were done giving us money once you've backed our Kickstarter? (please give us money)
Goddesses:
Yeah, we know why you're here. We've got all sorts of characters representing various companies - can't use the real company names because of legal issues, but if you don't figure it out from the design and parody name, look at their special moves and tags - they're references to help piece together what stock you're looking at.
33 unique Goddesses are planned, with 26 currently completed. Shoutout to our guest artists (listed below) as well! Couldn't have reached the amount we have without some help!
ok but who is this catboy? i thought this was a game about waifus:
D. Jones - a rich, influential businessman who hires the player’s services. He’s brought you aboard to hunt down and regain his stolen goods, and other treasures that... may or may not be his. Serves as the guide for walking the player through the tutorial, for summoning, party management, and battling.
He’s arrogant, forceful, bossy, and generally a pain to work with - but hey, he’s paying you. Though, his motivations may be more complex than he lets on… nah, we're probably just overthinking it. Rich people can't be evil, right?
Enemies and Monsters:
- Bandits - Small creatures that love to take money to use for their (probably nefarious) purposes.
- Kobolds - Stumpy little creatures that can breathe fire, and would grab anything they see that’s shiny… if they had arms. Come in two variants, the Blue-Collared species that is generally more violent, and the White-Collared species that has a bit of a superiority complex (but does have a larger collection of shiny things).
- Golems - Pretty standard small enemies, made of precious minerals brought to life. Why do they exist? Who cares, they’re worth a lot when you sell them.
- Pirats - These seafaring scamps will burn and plunder anything they can get their claws on. Don’t let their stature fool you, they’ll have you keelhauled before you could offer them a piece of cheese.
- Leprechaun - These magical little beings just seem to bleed money! Catch one if you can, and riches just may be yours. Be warned though, the pot they carry isn’t just for show - it packs quite a punch!
- Dwarves - The worst enemy to face? Small business owners.
- Dragons - Naturally, these giant serpents are an absolute pain to defeat - but a dragon’s massive treasure hoard has caused many adventurers to lose their fortunes (and lives) in combat against these beasts. There's a joke in here somewhere.
Why we need your money:
Games take a lot of work to make, blah blah blah, but listen man i really need to buy a new suit. I've been living in the bathroom of the New York Stock Exchange for months now, and I'm starting to get weird looks. It was all going fine, I used to just go around in my old suit screaming about money or animals or whatever all day, bumping shoulders with everyone I could - but my suit's getting some holes in it, and I really gotta get some new threads. It's all about the drip, yknow? I can't be going out to dinner with the rich and famous while my suit's busy being dry cleaned by the sink and automatic hand dryer. So if I'm to keep up my luxurious lifestyle, I'm gonna need all the money you can give. And then some.
